Salut, I'm François-Xavier, Senior Product Designer
specializing in AI interfaces and complex systems.
I design products where the logic is heavy,
the workflows are complex,
and getting it
wrong is expensive
I prototype in code to validate fast
and hand off with confidence.
10+ years across Europe, Asia, and Australia.
Remote-first Based in Paris.
How I Work
Async by default. I document decisions clearly, keep files organised, and communicate in a way that doesn't require a meeting to decode. I'm responsive during CET business hours with natural overlap into UK and early US East Coast hours. I work in English and French. I also speak Japanese (JLPT N2).
Discovery & Definition
2-6 weeksYou have a problem space but no clear direction yet. I run research, map the workflows, facilitate alignment sessions, and hand you a validated problem framing with early prototypes. Good for teams about to invest in a major feature or a new product.
End-to-end Feature Design
1-6 monthsYou're building something and need a senior designer embedded in the team. I work across the full stack: research, interaction design, prototyping in code, handoff. I stay close to engineering throughout and I'm useful past the Figma file.
Design System & Delivery support
ongoingYou're shipping fast and the design is starting to fragment. I help build or consolidate the system, document the patterns, and establish standards your team can maintain without me.
Experience
Senior product designer with 10+ years working across France, China, Japan and Australia, embedded in local teams, designing for local users, shipping products that work in context.
I immerse fast in unfamiliar domains without long onboarding or hand-holding. I've designed for lab chemists, unbanked users across Africa, hotel staff, and automotive engineers.
I'm remote-first and have worked with distributed teams across timezones for a long time. I'm structured, async-comfortable and I document decisions so the team always knows where things stand regardless of timezone.
-
Facilitated a 5-day design sprint at Valeo CarLab with 20+ participants (engineers, designers, and executives) that shipped Valeo Racer, a new in-car XR gaming experience, from blank page to prototype in a week.
-
Conducted field research in Senegal and Madagascar (in-branch observations, interviews with loan officers and first-time mobile banking users) that directly cut time to market for the My Baobab banking app.
-
Designed and shipped MySMA Checker, a symptom-tracking app for SMA patients, built and live on the Japanese market in under 3 months, working remotely with a distributed engineering team across Paris and Tokyo.
-
Led a team of 5 designers at Isobar Melbourne. Established ways of working, design critique culture, and collaboration practices with engineering that reduced rework and improved delivery pace.
-
Introduced UX research and design practices at EPIC (a Belgian multi-award-winning agency) enabling the team to deliver more tailored work and enter new market segments.
About
Design is about imagining new possibilities. Users don't always need solutions to problems, sometimes they need better ways to work, create, or connect. That's what drives me: exploring what could exist rather than just optimizing what already does.
I've been learning frontend development for over a year to bridge the gap between design and engineering. It's made me a better collaborator and lets me validate ideas through working prototypes instead of static mockups.
I'm also committed to sustainable design practices and believe we need to consider environmental impact in everything we build.
Based in Paris. Available for freelance missions where I can help you validate ideas fast, ship with confidence, and build products users love.
